WOW. What a month!

WOW. What a month!

I’m guessing by now everyone in the country has heard about the recent investment in CatchOfTheDay and Scoopon. If you haven’t, then you probably landed on this page by mistake.

May 23, 2011 was the day when Packer and friends made an $80 million investment in our future, and this day will definitely go down as the day our lives changed forever! It’s an incredible milestone for our business, and we’re very excited about what the future holds. Many of you have been extremely generous with your praise and congratulations, and I want to take this opportunity to thank you. It has really meant a lot to us and we truly appreciate your support.

With our new-found friends Packer, Tiger Global, Andrew Basset of Seek, and Gannet Capital, we’re certain that this company has a great future ahead of it and we’re looking forward to building Australia’s no.1 ecommerce group.

It’s been a winning month all round, with some record breaking deals happening at both CatchOfTheDay and Scoopon. Here are some of the more interesting ones:

  • Woman’s Weekly cook books – over 40,000 books sold in 24 hours! (See here.)
  • Footwear – over 7000 pairs of shoes sold on a quiet Saturday public holiday weekend! (See here.)
  • Top brand cosmetics – sold over 41000 items in 24 hours! (Here.)
  • Kambrook heated throws – sold over 8000 units so far! (Still going strong here.)
  • Dell Laptops – 1400 units sold in 2.5 hours; that’s almost $1million revenue! (Here.)
  • Perfumes – 6000 designer fragrances sold in a single day on BrandStreet!

Have you ever seen another company revealing sales figures? I haven’t. The reason is simple – no other website in the country compares to us in the quality and quantity of deals sold. We speak to suppliers every day and the comments are always the same: the quantities that CatchOfTheDay can sell in a single day are far greater than probably the top 10 Australian websites can sell together in a week.

If you’re a supplier looking to clear slow moving stock there is simply no other address to consider. Whether you’re selling laptops, TVs, rugs, pillows, fashion or groceries, we would love to hear from you.

And if you’re a retailer looking to move end of line or slow moving stock, there is no better place to go. We move stock quickly and easily, and that’s why many of Australia’s top retailers use us as their preferred clearance outlet.

And last but not least: we are hiring!

We’re about to expand into another huge warehouse and launch two new websites – groceryrun.com.au and brandstreet.com.au. We have lots of roles on offer and are looking for people who are passionate about online retail, energetic and the best in their field! Check out our jobs page for more information about the roles on offer, and if you think you have what it takes to join our expanding team, we would love to hear from you.

That’s all from me for this financial year, I’ll be back with more news in the new year!

Til then,

Gabby
